Hold Mock Funerals for the addict/for yourself and show them the future if they don’t get help…

Try this, and actually perform a burial for your addiction. Write down your addiction and explain it and how it messed up your life and the awful experience you had with it, including if your kids were taken or you lost a spouse or family because of it and put it in a container of some kind and seal it up!

Have you a support group or one Close supportive person to attend with you! Grab a shovel and start digging a grave for your addiction because it’s dead now and it is never coming back it literally can’t! Grab your pre written burial ulogly that says here lies my addiction, it was loved by me and hated by me and hated by all others…. etc…., and then toss it in the grave.

After its burial, say one last goodbye and you walk away without it and leave it there.

This is a great way to keep your addiction really gone and I hope y’all take my advice and it’s helpful to you because some people will be better able to understand that it’s not about to come back, it’s dead and that’s impossible dead things don’t come back!

Red Flag thoughts, how to recognize them and stop them from ruining your recovery.

RED-FLAG Thoughts-

What are Red Flag Thoughts

Red Flag thoughts are thoughts that you have in your mind that let’s you believe or justify your decision to go use drugs and relapse and once you are familiar with them REDFLAG thoughts you will find yourself catching them as soon as they take root and you can stop them quick! You begin by trying to not think about using and then it moves on to you trying to justify it in your head by saying that it’s only going to be once or maybe you have had a bad day so you deserve to go get high and before you know it you are looking in the ugly face of the big R. Relapse and that’s never pretty for any recovering addict!

Saying things like One drink is all I need and I’m done, or it’s only one pill, and no one has to know, is nothing but the beginning of a Relapse and could very likely pull you all the way back into your full addiction. It’s important to figure out the places, things, feelings that cause you to want to use and plan to counter them and fight them, or even avoid them all together to keep your self in Recovery. Once you can establish what those things are, for example I don’t watch Intervention, then you can avoid the thoughts that will cause you to crave the addiction!

You have to pay attention and really focus to keep these thoughts away and learn to live without them in your mind and to live without people or avoid places that trigger you and find new people and places you like and leave drugs out of all your new life and new friends so you don’t have any triggers in your everyday life anymore.

Homework assignment is to make a list of things that cause you cravings or triggers and begin to plan a way to cut it out of your new life in recovery, because your going to Win damn it! You are stronger than your addiction and you have a life to get back to and family who missed you and new friends and new fun things to see and do and you don’t have time to be alone in addiction jail anymore you have a awesome life to live!

A Toolbox for Recovery: What to put in yours.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM A TOOLBOX?

Whether you are thinking about sobriety, are in the early stages of it, or are well into it, you can benefit from having a Toolbox. Actually, if you are human you can benefit from a Toolbox.

If you are still drinking/drugging/whatevering, you can start incorporating these things NOW. By doing this, you effectively soften the blow when you remove the harmful substance. Adding in healthy coping tools before the quit creates new habits, new synapses in the brain, new circuitry. You effectively train yourself to seek the healthy coping mechanism/tool, and as you move through quitting the bad stuff, your body has learned other ways to self-soothe/balance/cope.

#AmyzAlleyrealRecovery-A personal note:
The most used “Tool” that I have in my own Addiction Recovery Toolbox, is for times of acute and sudden stress, days in which im feeling particularly depressed or am so close to giving in, can be accessed through anyone’s YouTube app! I made a #motivationinRecovery playlist and added all my favorite speeches or talks, or songs that motivate me to keep going and to not give up. I listen to them and slowly but surely my thinking eventually begins to change and I get that boost of confidence I need to realize that not only was I triggered, but I can name what triggered me, note any red flag thoughts or actions that I had prior to that and begin to plan ways to better avoid that in the future, even potentially training myself to catch the red flags, and then immediately redirect myself towards something that effectively holds my attention and mind away from the problem/problems that lead me to thinking about giving up my sobriety. I’m not near there as of yet, but with practice I know I can be my own defense and win in the long as long as I prepare for absolutely anything that could cause me to fail.
